Owner operators and husband & wife team, Robert and Amanda Zatta, crossed the Victorian border in January 2014 to live our dream of renovating and operating the Best Western Bluegum Motel. With a strong background in project management (medical based) and I.T. we knew we had the right skillset for the very large task at hand.

We embarked on our first two room renovations in our first year – our Premier King Rooms which we completed in August 2014. The high end finish and attention to detail including stone bench tops, walk-in frameless shower, custom furnishings and top of the line surround sound & Smart TV, rival any big city hotel. We knew we were on the right track as the popularity of these rooms was unprecedented!

We finished a further 5 rooms in April 2015 to the same high level of detail as the first, to offer an Executive King room with gorgeous leather chaise lounge and several Executive Queen/Twin rooms. Following their release we saw our corporate business traveller base sharply increase.

We joined the BEST WESTERN family in April 2016, and to the delight of our loyal corporate guests (and us!), we completed renovating the entire back section of the property in September 2016 to offer additional 4 1/2* Executive King & Executive Queen room options — All finished to a meticulously high standard of craftsmanship.

In January 2017, we completed renovating all guest rooms located at the front of property. Although slightly smaller in size, our Superior Queen and Superior Queen/Twin rooms feature double glazed windows, concealed LED lighting in a beautifully crafted bulkhead above the bed and many of the luxuries also included in our Executive rooms.

We turned our attention to our reception area (interior and exterior) in 2018 where we completed a major renovation to re-orientate and transform our lobby and reception space. Now our reception (and first impression!) matched our beautiful guest rooms.

Our goal in 2019 is to install architecturally designed shade sails over our guest car park to increase comfort and protection. With Council Approvals secured — watch this space!! End of March 2019 install likely!!

Other major property upgrades include new whisper quiet split-system air conditioners, HotelHome custom bedding, Sealy Commercial Posturepedic pillow-top beds, block-out drapes & sheers, Vintech hotel mini-bar fridges, 50” Samsung Smart TVs, state of the art CCTV surveillance system throughout property grounds and commercial upgrade of Wi-Fi to high speed dual fibre.
